Meet Sarah

Salvaged Barn Door into My Office/ Mudroom

My Husband and I Working on Blue Prints

Thanks for taking the time to visit! Well, “about me”, hmmm…As long as I can remember, I have been designing -whether it was whipping up my childhood bed canopy from old sheets, designing and sewing my wedding gown, to creating dozens of homes. I was taught to be resourceful with what I had which was never a lot. That’s why I love fabulous things, but am never above boxed wine.

Chair I created from mostly reclaimed materials

I embrace CHANGE as it is the only CONSTANT in life! I think that came from losing my Mom to cancer at an early age and having to adjust. My desire for change and creativity have put me in careers as an a choreographer, NBA dancer, TV host, home designer, flight attendant, and licensed Realtor. OMG. Clearly I suffer from A.D.D., but don’t you like the P.C. way I call it “creativity”?

I created this blog to share some things I’ve learned along my journey… decorating, fitness, and real life as a mom in the fast lane.

The greatest “creation” in my life is my chidren and marriage. I am a mother of two boys, and married to a wonderfully creative man who is the owner of Palisade Homes. We were recently featured in the newspaper.  Click for article

    Hi Sarah,
Welcome to the blogging world. Can’t wait to see all your creative inspiration.

    • Oh my goodness Janna. I don’t know what on earth I’m doing, but thrilled I found out how to view your post. Overwhelmed! You and some other girlfriends were HUGE inspiration in starting this blog. I love to see us all stepping out of the diaper-changing job we once had into what excites us. I figure if I do what I love, the rest will follow…..or so I hope! 🙂 xoxo Sarah

Came across your site Sarah when I was reading Southern Hospitality and wanted to have a “nosey” on your site. I don’t have one myself and actually feel it would be quite daunting to try and set one up so maybe one day!! Keep on doing what you are doing.

    xoxo Janis

    • Wow Janis. All the way from UK! Love that this has touched lives that far away from Oregon. Right now it is so time consuming as I “learn the ropes”, but passion for design drives me. Thanks for your email. My best, Sarah

I think it is so great that you are doing this blog! You will no doubt inspire so many women to stretch their limits and go for their dreams. WAY TO GO! I live over in Monmouth, OR! =)

    Hi, Sarah.

I came across your blog after finding Jenny’s. My husband is a friend of hers from way back. Your blog is very inspiring and so beautiful. I love designing my home on a budget and all things creative, too. I live in Everett, WA and I am in the process of creating a blog. Best of luck and blessings to you.

  6. Hey, Erin. Yes, Jenny’s the best! I am so blessed to be surrounded with amazing talented and inspiring women, good friends, and great moms!

    Hi Sarah,
I was looking at your blog and we are building a home right now. I am on the hunt for reasonable sliding barn doors for my laundry room and pantry. Can you give me a good resource to find these types of doors. Also wanted to know based on a picture I saw on your blog where you have to doors sliding from center to the sides. Is there room for light switches to slide by them or are the doors tight against the walls? Any help would be great. I am looking to have all knotty pine stained doors in the house. Thanks!! Lora

    Hi Sarah,

I love your pictures of the home you featured in LO. Can you tell me if it’s sold and if not, what the asking price is?

    Thank you!

    • Hi Erin. That was a custom home for a client. It was about $1.2 million. My husband is building another one down the street from it and may have more land owners willing to sell lots around L.O. If you’re interested, just give him a call. Bill Lorenz 503-515-9700. Enjoy the rest of this heat! Sarah

The article and photos in Home&Gardens was amazing.
So beautiful. Can you tell me where you got the pendant light
over the dining room table. And the two pendants over the island?
    Such a lovely home.
    Thank you
